Best Practices Project Steering Committee

The Best Practices Committee was established, after discussion by the Board of Directors, at the meeting of the Board in San Diego in October 2003. Two principal objectives were sought to be served: (1) to enable the College to enhance the quality of the Bankruptcy practice through the development of "best practices" guidelines or standards, and (2) to broaden the participation of Fellows who may not otherwise be involved in the activities of the College.

Communications Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to oversee publication, revision and maintenance of the College Columns, Directory, Website, Extranet, and databases and to develop more efficient and economical methods of effectively communicating with members of the College on a regular basis. Distinguished Bankruptcy Law Students Program Committee

Distinguished Service Award Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to recommend to the Board of Directors the annual recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Current and past Award Recipients are listed here. The Committee members are:

Educational Programs Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to identify professorships and other educational programs for College sponsorship and to develop other programs designed to further the educational purposes of the College. The members are:

Executive Committee

The Committee is established by Art. VI, Sec. 10 of the By-Laws and is given the power to act for the Board of Directors in the event it is not reasonably possible for the Board to act in time. The members are:

Finance Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to prepare the annual budget, review monthly financial statements, arrange for an annual audit of the financial affairs of the College and to perform other duties as specified by the Chair of the College. The members are:

History of the College Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to gather, preserve and organize historical materials and develop and publish a history of the College since its inception in 1990. The members are:

International Committee

The College's International Committee was created in 2007 to enhance the College's international profile and to more fully engage the International Fellows of the College in the College's initiatives and activities and to provide an opportunity for domestic Fellows of the College to participate in those activities and to have more opportunities to liaise with the College's International Fellows. Judicial Outreach Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to facilitate the involvement of more of the judge Fellows of the College in the College’s activities. The members are:

Liaisons Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to serve as liaison to the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the National Bankruptcy Conference, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Commercial Law League, the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the Business Bankruptcy Subcommittee of the Section of Business Law of the American Bar Association, and other bankruptcy organizations as may be determined by the Chair of the College. Meetings and Events Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to make arrangements for the Annual Meeting of the College in Washington, D.C., the Midyear Meeting of the College in conjunction with the meeting of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and other regional, state and city meetings of the Fellows of the College. National Bankruptcy Archives Committee

The purpose of the Committee is to carry out the purposes set forth in the agreement between the College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School with respect to the establishment and administration of the National Bankruptcy Archives located at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Supreme Court Project

Ken Klee, of Klee, Tuchin, Bogdanoff & Stern LLP and the UCLA School of Law, is working on a 375 page book on Bankruptcy and the Supreme Court. The book, designed as a desk reference, looks at the Court's bankruptcy cases over the past 110 years and offers valuable substantive and procedural insights. In addition to analyzing the important cases, Klee has extracted a few excerpts from the Justices' private papers providing a behind the scenes look at the Court's decision making process. This book has been commissioned and underwritten by the College and will be distributed free of charge by the College to every federal judge and bankruptcy lawyer in the United States, probably in early in 2009.
